THE Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Woman Wing of PP-143, set up a blood camp for thalassemia patients on Sunday in connection with the 57th birth anniversary of slain party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
The camp was set up at the residence of Member Federal Council and former MPA Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash in which dozens of PPP workers, students and woman activists of the party donated blood to the Red Crescent Society for thalassemia.
Central leader PPP and Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Syed Asif Hashmi also visited the blood camp and distribute certificates among the donors.
President PP-143 Woman Wing and former Member District Assembly Talat Bangash, Nasrin Gilani, Zahida Kausar, Samia Liaqat, Aroosa Usman and other PPP woman activists donated blood besides expressing complete confidence in the party leadership. Besides, the blood was also donated by Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash, President PP-143 Shakil Mir, Secretary Information Peoples Labour Bureau Punjab Salim Mughal, Shahid Sulehri and several others.
Speaking on the occasion, Asif Hashmi said the gesture shown by the people for the service of humanity deserved tremendous praise. He said the PPP members were the real assets of the party who were following the agenda of Shaheed Chairperson Benazir Bhutto who always linked herself with the masses.
He further said the PPP was united under the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari under whose tenure the country had made some remarkable achievements including the 18th Amendment, NFC Award, return of millions of IDPs, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and a true democratic culture. Paying tributes to the Prime Minister, Asif Hashmi said his efforts for strengthening democracy and federation were praiseworthy, adding under the PPP rule, the country would certainly make some more historic achievements.
